We provide a safe, supportive space for emotional healing through peer-to-peer connections and joyful, therapeutic activities.
Although the value and quality of our intimate, immersive retreats is significant, a one-time experience for a family simply isn’t enough to heal the trauma they’ve amassed through a child’s cancer treatment and/or death. One goal over the next few years is to create more of a “Continuum of Care” for our local families. We see a greater benefit coming from long-term support and the feeling of being a part of a community that truly understands.
In 2023, other than our signature retreats, we offered a handful of events with the intention of bringing local families who have experienced the unimaginable together. These included a Winter Blues Bereavement luncheon in January, two nights out in Portsmouth for parents to participate in a Vent Room and attend dinner and a show at the Music Hall, a mom & teen stand-up paddle board experience on the York River, and a Community Pizza Supper and foam party to celebrate Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
If you have not attended one of our programs and would like to be on the mailing list for these activities and future retreats, please register as a Rett’s Roost family here:
